Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of Believer’s LoveWorld Inc. and Christ Embassy led an uplifting and exciting New Years Eve service for his congregation to close out 2017. Before a crowd of thousands, and many more watching the TV broadcast, Pastor Chris recapped 2017, calling it the “Year of Flourishing”. He and his church worked to grow their following, and distributed over 1.3 billion copies of Rhapsody of Realities worldwide in 900 languages. Rhapsody of Realities is a daily devotional that is not only available in printed form, but also a mobile app. In addition, LoveWorld Inc. spread its message and the word of Christ through TV, the internet and radio to reach its largest audience, ever.
The ministry itself also had a huge impact during the year through their Inner-City Mission project and the Healing School. Inner-City Mission for Children works to strengthen families, provide healthcare and nutrition to children in addition to child care and family support and is headquartered out of Lagos, Nigeria. The Healing School is a program led by Pastor Chris in Johannesburg, South Africa and Toronto, Canada. It is a televised event that guest pastors can also attend so that they can witness the healing miracles performed on the sick and infirm that attend. They continued to expand their reach by training thousands of new ministers through the International School of Ministry.
This exciting evening also included winners of the Future African Leaders Awards (FALA). Naomi Ekpoki Aliyu was 2017’s top prize winner, noted for her work as an upcoming young leader of her community. The awards were followed with uplifting entertainment from Martin PK and Sinach. Martin PK performed his recent Gospel single, Beautiful Jesus, which won the 2017 Song of the Year at the LoveWorld Music and Arts Awards (LIMA). Sinach performed a selection and invited Pastor Chris, along with pastors from Christ Embassy on stage to join her.
Pastor Chris ended the evening on an uplifting note, thanking God and leading prayer with the crowd present and watching across the globe. He praised God, thanked Him for the Year of Flourishing and for the outpouring of love and kindness in the community. Looking ahead to 2018, Dr. Oyakhilome called upon his congregation to continue their good work into new year and beyond. He invited them to continue to pray, and to use their new application KingsChat to communicate to his team the names of friends and family members who may need the healing power of prayer and uplifting words to get them through whatever this year might be throwing at them.
Overall, the entire evening was met with vivacious enthusiasm from Pastor Chris’s congregation. There were many highs and moments where the spirit of the Lord was moving through the room and lifting the hearts and spirits of all in attendance. Some were overcome with emotion and wept, or raised their hands in song during worship. Pastor Chris hopes to continue this energy as they speed into the new year, and keep up all of the great work they have accomplished for their communities so far.
